Granted, I?m only a month into this experience, but so far I am very happy with my decision to try coworking. The other anchor tenants at at our office and the guests who have visited so far are, by and large, brilliant people, who are kind, thoughtful, and thought provoking. I?ve already picked up some networking contacts that may turn into business opportunity in the coming months. And I feel my productivity has increased due to new-found energy and eagerness to participate. Saved By: Chris Messina | View Details | Give Thanks

Independents Hall is the foundation for the ultimate uniting of independent creatives in the city of Philadelphia, and nearby areas. Founding member Alex Hillman, a local web developer and entrepreneur, started by sharing in the idea of coworking. Realizing the potential for the unification of all of the independent talent in Philadelphia, he created the group Independents Hall, a collective of local independent talent who meet regularly, to discuss the industry both local and abroad, as well as partake in social interaction with peers. In time, a permanent coworking space could be opened, allowing both regular members as well as walk-ins to participate in the collective creativity. I know quite a few of the people putting coworking spaces together. From everything I hear, they're great sources of cross-pollination for networking, ideas, and just general camaraderie - all things you lose when trading the cube-life for working from home.

"Right now I get the sense that in Howard County there isn?t a sufficient critical mass of people in the right demographic, and few if any suitable spaces even if there were people to take advantage of them. But need this always be the case? With over 40,000 professional/technical workers in Howard County and future trends favoring small entrepreneurial businesses, I have to believe that at least one in a hundred of these people might be interested in coworking arrangements; that?s a few hundred potential customers."
